On 28 May 2001, with the full support of Peking University, the School of Journalism and Communication resumed its establishment. Even though the history of the department seems to be short, PKU is admittedly the birthplace of journalism education in China. China's first journalism publication, the first news journal and the first journalism research academic group all originated in Peking University. In the past twenty years, PKU SJC has made great achievements in personnel training, academic research and international communication.
