The 2021 Annual Meeting of the Health Communication Professional Committee of the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Communication & The 4th “Medicine, Humanity and Media: Health China and Health Communication” International Conference (MHM 2021)

 

Last year (2020), the COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly affected the course of human civilization and highlighted the significance of health communication. In the context of the pandemic, putting people first and incorporating health communication into the construction of Healthy China is both the research core of health communication and an important driving force in absorbing and integrating academic resources and promoting the development of the academic community.

In April 2021, the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Communication approved the establishment of the Health Communication Professional Committee and held its inaugural meeting on August 2nd, 2021 at Fudan University. In order to build bridges for academic exchanges, the Health Communication Professional Committee will hold the 2021 Annual Meeting of the Health Communication Professional Committee of the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Communication & the 4th “Medicine, Humanity and Media: Health China and Health Communication” International Conference (MHM 2021) at Peking University from November 5th through 7th, 2021. Scholars at home and abroad are now cordially invited to contribute articles and participate in the conference to discuss the core issues, theoretical constructions, and methodologies of health communication research in the new era.

The conference will be held simultaneously in an online and offline format in accordance with the requirements of pandemic prevention and control.

 

Topics

Health Communication Research in the Post-Epidemic Era in Multiple Contexts

This conference encourages diverse research perspectives and welcomes (and is not limited to) studies on the following topics.

1. Doctor-patient communication and interventions in health care settings

 

2. Public health crisis communication and risk communication

 

3. Popularization of the pandemic and health science

 

4. Vaccination and health communication

 

5. Research on health communication associated with tobacco and other addictive behaviors

 

6. Health communication and cross-cultural communication for traditional Chinese medicine

 

7. Sports health communication

 

8. Health communication in the context of social structure and demographic change

 

9. Study on global health and community of common health for mankind

 

10. Media health narrative and strategic communication

 

11. Technology empowerment and health promotion of digital media

 

12. Other topics associated with health communication     

 

Submission Guidelines

 

1. Submissions should be submitted before September 22 (Beijing time)

 

1) Chinese abstract (no more than 500 words, including title and keywords, APA 7th edition format);

2) English abstract (same as above);

3) Brief introduction of the author (100 words + photo) should be sent to healthcom_chinacfp@163.com. The title of the email should include the author’s name, submission topic number, and paper title (e.g., “Zhang San-4-Study on the Impact of Interpersonal Transmission on COVID-19 Vaccination”), so that it can be distributed to relevant reviewers in a timely manner. Before October 7 (Beijing time), the organizer will announce the shortlist and send invitations to the selected candidates.

 

2. Selected manuscripts must be submitted in full (unpublished) before October 22 (Beijing time) (5000-8000 words preferred, including title, abstract, keywords, text, and notes. National, provincial, and important fund projects should denote the project name and number. If the manuscript is signed by a research group, the names and working units of the main members of the research group must be indicated) to healthcom_chinacfp@163.com. The email title should contain the author’s name, the submission topic number, and the title of the paper.

 

3. This conference will cooperate with CNKI. Upon authorization of the authors, the participating papers will be included in the China Proceedings of Conference Full-text Database (CPCD) of CNKI free of charge, and the certificate of publication will be provided (see the attachment). Excellent papers will also be recommended for publication in core journals at home and abroad.
