2006 China Forum on Mass Communication, sponsored by Communication Association of China (CAC), Chinese Communication Association (CCA), the Information and Communication Research Center as well as College of Journalism of Fudan University, will be hosted by the Media and Cultural Research Center of Shenzhen University on August 18-20, 2006 in Shenzhen, China.
The central theme of this Forum is Communication Studies: Rights and Responsibilities.
There will be 10 conference issues:
1. Information diffusion and human subsistence and development;
2. The global world and China’s media environment;
3. Media and citizen’s rights and responsibilities;
4. Communication functions in the construction of a harmonious world;
5. Media ecology and view of scientific development;
6. Media system reform, competition, and development;
7. Communication ethics and human behaviors;
8. Reflections of current communication phenomena, including public opinion, entertainment as business, visual communication, crisis communication, health communication, new media and individual communication;
9. Citizen’s media literacy;
10. Media and social images, those as nation, state, government, cities, corporations, and interest groups.
Post graduates are also welcome to submit papers based on the above topics or other related ones. Panel and workshop proposals are also encouraged. In order to stimulate post gradates to participate in academic activities, as usual this forum will set up some special student panels. A group of specialists will anomalously review all the submitted papers, panel and workshop proposals. The authors of the papers and proposals that are accepted by the conference will receive a formal invitation from the Forum.
In addition, this Forum will issue awards to 3 to 7 excellent papers and 1 to 7 excellent graduate student papers. The number of such papers of the host university shall not exceed one third of the total number of the awards, and panels and workshops will not join the excellent paper competition.
The submission deadline for papers and panel/workshop proposal is June 30, 2006. During the period from July 15, 2006 to August 5, 2006, the secretariat of the forum will send out formal invitations through email to the authors whose papers or panel/workshop proposals are accepted.
