Instructions for Submitting Application Materials for Recommended Admission to the 2026 Graduate Programs (Mainland China Students Only)

1. Preparation of Materials

Each applicant must prepare one document envelope containing all required application materials.

2. Information to Be Written on the Envelope

Please clearly indicate the following information on the envelope:

  1. Name:

  2. Level of Application (choose one): Master’s / Direct-entry Ph.D.

  3. Intended Master’s Track (choose one): International Journalism and Communication / Journalism and Communication / Health Communication

  4. Category of Special Program (if applicable):

  5. Current University and School:

  6. Current Major:

  7. Application System ID Number:

3. Order of Materials in the Envelope

Please arrange the materials in the following order:

  1. Application Form for Recommended Admission to Peking University Graduate Programs 2026 (download) – 1 copy;

  2. Personal Statement for Recommended Admission to Peking University Graduate Programs 2026 (download) – 1 copy;

  3. Two Letters of Recommendation for Recommended Admission to Peking University Graduate Programs 2026 (download) – signed by two experts in a discipline relevant to the applicant’s intended field of study (associate professor or above, or equivalent rank). Each letter must be sealed in an envelope and signed across the seal by the recommender;

  4. One official undergraduate transcript, bearing the official seal of the university registrar’s office (or transcript verification seal), sealed in an envelope and stamped across the seal;

  5. One set of copies of award certificates (if any);

  6. One copy of proof of English proficiency (e.g., CET-4/6, TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, or other valid test scores demonstrating English ability);

  7. One signed copy of the Integrity Commitment for Examination (printed on A4 paper and signed in black ink; see Appendix I);

  8. One signed copy of the Notice to Applicants for the 2026 Professional Master’s Degree Programs (printed on A4 paper and signed in black ink; see Appendix II).

    • Applicants for the Direct-entry Ph.D. program are not required to submit Item 8.

Items 1), 2), and 3) must be downloaded and printed from the Peking University Graduate Admissions website after the applicant has completed the online application.

Applicants may also submit representative academic papers, publications, or other original scholarly achievements to demonstrate their academic ability.

Current undergraduate students of the School of Journalism and Communication, Peking University, applying to the same school are required to submit Items 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, and 8 only.

Applicants from other universities, as well as PKU students applying across schools/departments, must submit all of the above materials to the Graduate Affairs Office of the school to which they are applying.

5. Deadline

The deadline for submission of materials and completion of online registration is 12:00 noon, September 10, 2025.

Materials must be received by Room 231 of the School of Journalism and Communication by this time (based on actual delivery time, not postmark date). Late submissions will be considered invalid and will not be accepted.

6. Important Notes

  1. Online Application Requirements

  • PKU Online Application:

    The Peking University Graduate Admissions website (https://admission.pku.edu.cn/) provides the 2026 online application system for recommended admission. Applicants must complete and submit their application through the “Online Registration” module.

  • Ministry of Education Recommendation Service System:

    The Ministry of Education’s “National Recommended Admission Information Disclosure and Management Service System” (http://yz.chsi.com.cn/tm) serves as the official information platform and online admission system for recommended students.

Applicants must:

    • Obtain official recommendation qualification from their home university (as recorded in the national system);

    • Register and complete required procedures in the system, including online registration, uploading electronic photos, payment, submission of preferences, interview confirmation, and confirmation of admission offer.

Please refer to the official notice titled Measures for the Admission of 2026 Recommended Students (Main Campus) on the PKU Graduate School website for details.

  1. An application is considered valid only after both the online application and the submission of paper materials have been completed.

  2. All submitted materials will not be returned.
