Peking University School of Journalism and Communication is pleased to announce the Communication, Technology, and Culture 2026 Summer Program, an academically rigorous and culturally immersive experience designed for students interested in the intersection of media, technology, and society in the digital age.

The program integrates cutting-edge academic lectures with field visits to leading technology companies and cultural landmarks in China, offering students a unique opportunity to engage with global scholars and industry practitioners.

Program Highlights

  • Special topic lectures by PKU-SJC faculty and distinguished guest lecturers

  • Field studies at major technology companies and cultural institutions

  • Interdisciplinary focus on AI, governance, media, and digital society

  • Academic training combined with in-depth cultural exploration

Students will join peers from top-ranked global institutions, including the University of Sydney, Nanyang Technological University, and the National University of Singapore.

· Advertising and AI – Prof. Tianfu Wang

· Generative Engine Optimization – Dr. Haoyu Dong

· Internet Governance – Prof. Jinhe Liu

· AI and Human Interaction – Prof. Mengxue Ou

· Images and Society – Prof. Jing Wu

· Media and Society – Prof. Kaihe Chen

· Communication Technology History in China – Prof. Hongzhe Wang

· Digital Society – Prof. Yong Hu

Field Studies Include:

  • Visit to ByteDance Headquarters

  • Visit to Tencent Beijing Office

  • Cultural exploration at the 798 Contemporary Art Complex

Eligibility

The program is open to:

  • Undergraduate students (sophomore to senior level)

  • Postgraduate students

Applicants should demonstrate strong academic motivation and interest in media, communication, and technology studies.
