Bettina Mottura is associate professor of Chinese language and culture at the Department of Language Mediation and Intercultural Communication, and is scientific coordinator of the Contemporary Asia Research Center (CARC) of the University of Milan.
She teaches Chinese specialised translation and Chinese culture in BA and MA Programmes. She serves as tutor for PhD students and Post-doc researchers. In 2015 she has been visiting professor at the College of International Education of Liaoning Normal University (China).
Her research focuses on the study of Chinese institutional and media discourse and on contemporary Chinese culture.
In 2016 she co-authored with A.C. Lavagnino a book on contemporary Chinese culture and institutions (Carocci). In 2017 she co-edited three books, one of which is the volume Media and Politics. Discourses, Cultures, and Practices (Cambridge Scholars Publishing). She is member of the editorial board of Languages Cultures and Mediation (LCM Journal).

She is auditor of the Italian Association for Chinese Studies (AISC) and member of the European Association for Chinese Studies (EACS).
